Joseph A. Reed, PhD

Dr. Reed received his B.A. in psychology and philosophy from the University of Louisville and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Toledo. His research in graduate school focused on loneliness, social exclusion, and serious mental illness. He completed his predoctoral internship at Baylor College of Medicine with a primary clinical placement at The Menninger Clinic. He went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship at The Menninger Clinic on the Compass Program for Young Adults. Dr. Reed has specialized training in the assessment and treatment of diagnostically complex emerging adults in a therapeutic milieu. He has particular interest in the psychoanalytic therapy of Borderline Personality Disorder (i.e., Transference-Focused Psychotherapy, Mentalization-Based Therapy) and was the recipient of a 2019 Early Career Scholar Award from the Society for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychology, Division 39 of the American Psychological Association. In his free time, he enjoys reading, running, and seeing what else is on Netflix.
