Dana Bender earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University in 1987. She completed her internships at Lansing General Hospital and Muskegon Mental Health Center before taking a position at Lutheran General Hospital as Occupational Therapist in their Partial Hospitalization Program. Dana has come to Yellowbrick following 24 years as Senior Occupational Therapist and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Program Coordinator at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Outpatient Psychiatric Program. While at Northwestern, her areas of specialty were daily living skills, social skills, cognitive skills training, and community integration. As PSR coordinator, Dana was instrumental in educating and training hospital staff, residents, and students from a wide variety of disciplines on the concepts of patient empowerment, resilience and recovery.
